To motivate students to read, HHSII Elementary Librarians, Ms. Jalloul and Ms. Abou Dargham conducted interesting and motivational activities for the Reading Week 2009.
The Reading Week activities included visits to two public libraries, As-sabeel Public Library and Al-Jietawi Public Library. At As-sabeel Public Library, grade 5D students were exposed to various science activities entitled Play with Science. At Al-Jietawi Public Library, grade 3B students joined reading activities on Phonenician alphabets, and grade 1C students were engaged in reading aloud stories and related activities.
At HHS II Library, the teacher librarians talked about the occasion of Beirut World Book Capital 2009 which aims at promoting reading. Moreover, G 9 and G10 students volunteered to read aloud to fourth graders to motivate students to read and were offered certificates of participation.
